The name was coined with the thought of a purpose in its name.
When written in the devanagri script "मितवा", each alphabet denotes a driving force of the trust. To elaborate,
मि - मित्र - जो असेल सोबती असा... (Friend)
त - तत्त्वज्ञ - जो दाखवेल मार्ग असा... (Philosopher)
वा - वाटाड्या - जो असेल सहभागी असा... (Guide)
A group of people sharing the same thought and ideology of giving back to the society in whatever manner possible, got connected under a single thread Mitwa.
The first social activity initiated by the Chairman was a milk donation drive for needy children during the Hindu holy month of Shravana in 2015. This act garnered the attention of our donors. This, with their blessings, was the humble beginning of Mitwa Foundation.
The journey that began in 2015 was officially stamped as a Trust on 14th July 2017 by the Office of the Charity Commissioner, Mumbai under The Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950.
The other milestones in the journey are 10A certification by the Income Tax department in FY 2021-22 and the 80G from FY 2022-23.
We started with focusing on 6 primary schools that had around 200 students in Malwada village in 2017 and now we cater to 23 schools having around 1,300 happy students. Our other activities include dental camps, ‘Wall of Humanity’, rebuilding houses, supporting the elderly, supporting the poor during cold winter nights, among many others.
MITWA Foundation primarily works by empowering students along with helping the needy in rural parts of Maharashtra.
